2011 All-Star Fantasy Draft

The time has come for the actual All-Star Fantasy Draft.  Team Staal feat. Ryan Kesler and Mike Green square off vs. Team Lidstrom feat. Patrick Kane and Martin St. Louis.  Team Staal won the coin toss which was represented by a puck and thus the draft was under way.

-Goalies need drafted by the 10th round.
-Defenseman need drafted by the 15th round.

Round 1
Team Staal- Cam Ward
Team Lidstrom- Steven Stamkos
Analysis: What a homer pick from Staal.  Good pick from Lidstrom and he's St. Louis teammate.

Round 2
Team Staal- Alex Ovechkin
Team Lidstrom- Duncan Keith
Analysis: Green picked Ovechkin. You can't blame him.  Kane picked Keith. Ehh....

Round 3
Team Staal- Daniel Sedin
Team Lidstrom- Hendrik Sedin
Analyses: Somebody had to split them up.

Round 4
Team Staal- Zdeno Chara
Team Lidstrom- Shea Weber
Analysis: Chara wasn't a bad pick.  Lidstrom could've waited on Weber.

Round 5
Team Staal- Rick Nash
Team Lidstrom- Tim Thomas
Analysis: Nash shows up in All-Star games.  10 points in 3 games.

Round 6
Team Staal- Hendrik Lundqvist
Team Lidstrom- Danny Briere
Analysis: Lundqvist is solid.  Briere went pretty high especially for a replacement.

Round 7
Team Staal- Marc Staal
Team Lidstrom- Dustin Byfuglien
Analysis: Staal continues to assemble family members and teammates.

Round 8
Team Staal- Patrick Sharp
Team Lidstrom- Jonathan Toews
Analysis: By now Toews is crying by now that he hasn't been picked. He's also the last Black Hawk to go.  Good stuff.

Round 9
Team Staal- Dan Boyle
Team Lidstrom- Marc-Andre Fleury
Analysis: Lidstrom had to go goalies back to back to make sure he has them by the 10th round. Solid pick in Fleury.

Round 10
Team Staal- Carey Price
Team Lidstrom- Jonas Hiller
Analysis: Both teams go goalies.  Lidstrom gets stuck with Hiller.

Round 11
Team Staal- Jeff Skinner
Team Lidstrom- Brad Richards
Analysis: Staal completes his mission and successfully drafts ever single family member and Carolina Hurricane.  Skinner looks like he's 12.

Round 12
Team Staal- Kris Letang
Team Lidstrom- Keith Yandle
Analysis: Two young solid defensemen go this round.  Not much more to say.

Round 13
Team Staal- Claude Giroux
Team Lidstrom- Brent Burns
Analysis: Giroux should've gone ahead of Briere but whatever.  Burns scores alot for a defenseman.

Round 14
Team Staal- Erik Karlsson
Team Lidstrom- Martin Havlat
Analysis: Karlsson is the last defenseman to go.  Havlat is quietly putting up a solid season.

Round 15
Team Staal- Corey Perry
Team Lidstrom- Anze Kopitar
Analysis: Pretty surpised that Perry and Kopitar went this late. Oh well.

PAUSE: It's time for the rookies to pick teams.  Taylor Hall wins the puck toss and chooses to go to Lidstroms team.  Joining Hall is Kevin Shattenkirk, Derek Stepan, Cam Fowler, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and Evgeny Dadonov.  Joining team Staal is Michael Grabner, Tyler Ennis, Logan Coture, P.K. Subban, Tyler Seguin, and Jamie McBain.

Round 16
Team Staal- Patrick Elias
Team Lidstrom- Matt Duchene
Analysis:  Elias very well could've gone last and Duchene shouldn't have lasted this long.

Round 17
Team Staal- David Backes
Team Lidstrom- Loui Eriksson
Analysis: Backes threatened to hit whoever picked him last. Meh.

Round 18
Team Staal- Paul Stastny
Team Lidstrom- Phil Kessel
Analysis: Kessel goes last. Ovechkin takes a picture. Everything is hilarious until they give him a new car. Confusion sets in.

Draft Notes:
-Staal gets to play with Ward, Skinner, and Staal.
-The Sedin's are split up.  Should be good stuff.
-Team Lidstrom is full of former Black Hawks. Kane, Keith, Byfuglien, Toewes, Havlat.
-Letang gets to shoot on Fleury.
-Chara gets to shoot on Thomas.
-Perry gets to shoot on Hiller.
-Giroux and Briere are split up.
-Stastny and Duchene are split up.
-Ovechkin was texting the whole time.
-Jonas Hiller lives in his basement.
-Phil Kessel got a car for coming in last. We assume he is going to use it to drive as far away from Toronto as possible...
