NHL Recap 1/21

It's a fairly quiet night in the NHL (only 4 games) so i figured I'd try my hand at a nightly update segment.  We'll start off in Buffalo:

2 Nathan Gerbe scores twice in 5 seconds but thats just about all Buffalo had going for them.  Miller gets pulled after giving up 2 goals on 10 shots.
5 Michael Grabner scores 2 and Kyle Okposo gets his first point of the season in his second game back. DiPietro was out sick so instead 2 rooks combine to stop 36 of 38 shots. Solid game from NY.

---------------------------------------

7 Thomas Plekanec scores 2 and Carey Price shuts the door.  5 Habs with multiple points.

1 Chris Kelly scores the lone goal for the Sens, Mike Brodeur is pulled after the fourth goal, and Alexei Kovalev is held off the scoresheet in his return to the lineup. Just a bad night for Ottowa

---------------------------------------
2 SO Steve Downie scores his first goal since his high ankle sprain.  Stamkos did all the work. Whatever. Fast forward to OT; Lecavlier gets a penalty shot but can't put it home. In the SO Dominic Moore scores the only goal to win it for the Bolts.

1 Cory Stillman tallies Florida's goal.  Santorelli, Frolik, and Weiss all get stopped in the shootout by Ellis.
---------------------------------------

4 Mike Ribeiro finishes with 3 assists and extends his point streak to 11 games.  Andrew Raycroft let in 7 goals on 19 shots. Yikes.
7 David Moss scores twice, Jarome Iginla scores his 20th of the season, and Hendrik Karlsson wins despite his .810 save %.
---------------------------------------
Looking Ahead at Tomorrow:
The NHL has 11 games tomorrow prominently featuring the Blackhawks vs. the Wings, the Rangers vs. the Thrashers, and the Wild vs. the Sharks.  Stay tuned.

  1. As strange as this sounds from a Limey I've always wanted to start following the NHL because Hockey looks like a good sport (mainly down to the brutality lol). This blog will give me a jumping off point so you best keep updating as you might have just gained another NHL fan. ;)
